Pakke ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Pakke mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and a unique user identifier through Firebase Authentication.
• Profile Data: Your permanent residency date, pre-PR days in Canada, and planned application date that you provide during onboarding.
• Trip Data: Departure dates, return dates, destinations, and days abroad for trips you add manually or that are detected automatically.
• Location Data: If you enable location tracking (a premium feature), we collect background location data to detect when you cross Canadian borders. This data is processed on your device to create trip entries and is not shared with third parties.
• Email Data: If you connect your Gmail account (a premium feature), we access your email in read-only mode to scan for travel-related emails such as flight bookings and hotel confirmations. We do not read, store, or access any other email content.
• Purchase Information: Subscription and tip purchase records are managed by RevenueCat and Apple/Google. We store your premium status but do not process payment information directly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Calculate your physical presence days in Canada and determine citizenship eligibility
• Store and display your trip history
• Detect trips automatically through location tracking or email scanning
• Manage your subscription and premium features
• Provide customer support

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, Cloud Firestore database, and Cloud Functions for backend processing. Firebase Privacy Policy

• Gmail API (Google): Read-only email access for AI trip detection. We request only the minimal scopes necessary to search for travel-related emails.
• Claude AI (Anthropic): We use Anthropic's Claude API to parse travel-related emails and extract trip information. Email content is sent to Claude's API for processing and is not stored by Anthropic beyond what is needed to process the request. Anthropic Privacy Policy

4. Location Tracking Disclosure

Pakke offers an optional background location tracking feature for premium subscribers. When enabled:

• Your device's location is monitored in the background to detect when you leave or return to Canada
• Location data is used solely to create trip entries in the App
• Location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties
• You can enable or disable location tracking at any time in the App's settings
• Disabling location tracking does not affect any previously recorded trips

5. Gmail Read-Only Access

When you connect your Gmail account:

• We use OAuth 2.0 with PKCE for secure authorization
• We request read-only access limited to searching for travel-related emails
• We search for keywords related to flights, hotels, and travel bookings
• Matching emails are sent to our Cloud Function for AI parsing to extract trip dates and destinations
• We store your Gmail refresh token securely in Firebase to enable future scans
• We do not read, store, or access emails unrelated to travel
• You can disconnect your Gmail account at any time

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and is protected by Firebase security rules that ensure users can only access their own data. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and secure authentication.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Export your data: You can export all your trip data as a CSV file from the App's settings
• Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the App's settings. This action is irreversible.
• Disconnect Gmail: You can disconnect your Gmail account at any time, which revokes our access to your email
• Disable location tracking: You can toggle location tracking off at any time in the App's settings

8. Children's Privacy

Pakke is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
